Melasti Ceremony in Bali



Melasti is a purification ceremony to welcome Nyepi by all Hindus in Bali. Melasti ceremony held to wash away the dirt of nature using water of life. Melasti ceremony held at the edge pantaidengan purpose purify ourselves from all the bad things in the past and throw it into the sea. In the Hindu faith, a source of water such as lakes, and the sea is considered as the living water (tirta Amrita). In addition to praying, Melasti ceremony also was the cleaning and purification of sacred objects belonging to the temple (pralingga or pratima Ida Bhatara and all equipment). the objects are paraded and carried through the village. it is meant to purify the village. In this ceremony, people formed groups to water sources such as lakes and seas.
